The Mario López Estrada Foundation focuses on the poorest rural communities in the country, seeking to improve the quality of life of Guatemalans and create development opportunities that generate prosperity and reduce the flows of outbound migration.

The most important investment areas for the Mario López Estrada Foundation are health, education, women’s empowerment, and the promotion of transparency. The founding members of the Mario López Estrada Foundation decided to work on their projects cooperating in alliance and coordination with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States Embassy in Guatemala. The Mario López Estrada Foundation invests in its projects with funds that come from the Onyx Group and the López Estrada family.
