The Mario López Estrada Foundation announced that the launch in May 2022 of the Prosperity for Prosperity Project, which seeks to reduce the rates of chronic malnutrition in seven communities (villages and cantons) of the upper basin of the municipality of Chiantla, in the Department of Huehuetenango, as well as the development of a Goat Center that seeks to improve goat genetics in the Department of Huehuetenango.
The project will be implemented by the Mario López Estrada Foundation and by the Farmer to Farmer organization.
The project has two parts. The first is the Community Intervention that will be carried out by Farmer to Farmer, which in a first stage total $1.3 million dollars. The second component is El Centro Caprino, which will be run by the Mario López Estrada Foundation with funds contributed by members of the López Estrada family, which in a first stage total $2 million dollars.
In accordance with the baseline study carried out, the Community Intervention will include the assistance of 713 children under 5 years of age and pregnant women, a segment that includes three modules, a) The Availability of Food at Home; b) Health and Nutrition; and, c) Sustainability (training). In the Food Availability module, it is contemplated to grant a goat to each family, for the consumption of goat milk by the children and mothers who will be intervened, added to other actions contemplated in the three modules.

Likewise, the Goat Center seeks to process goat milk products, in order to encourage small businesses in the communities to intervene, as well as, in order to promote the consumption of said products in Guatemala.
The Mario López Estrada Foundation seeks to make the Goat Center self-sustaining and become the headquarters of the Foundation, as well as, launch various development projects in the western highlands from it.
