The Mario López Estrada Foundation, in answer to the call from the Embassy of the United States of America and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), joined the humanitarian assistance project “Alliance for Hope”, which seeks to assist families who lost their assets during tropical storms Eta and Iota, which hit Guatemala and Central America in October and November 2020.
The Mario López Estrada Foundation acquired and donated 730 improved stoves to the same number of homes in various villages and communities in the municipality of Chiantla, in the Department of Huehuetenango, which were distributed through Project Concern International (PCI), an allied organization of USAID.
The improved wood-saving stoves were distributed, among others, in the following communities: Ocubila, Las Manzanas, San Francisco Las Flores, Capilla Canton, Arenales Canton, Plaza San Nicolás Canton, Hierba Buena Baja, Hierba Buena Alta, and Chochal.
The Mario López Estrada Foundation, whose directors agreed to work on all their cooperation projects through USAID, immediately responded to the call from the United States Embassy in the country, with an investment of $100,000 dollars.
The Mario López Estrada Foundation will attend the launch of the “Alliance for Hope” Project, when the Embassy of the United States so determines.
