
Mario López Peréz
Mario López Pérez is a Guatemalan entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the CEO of Grupo Onyx, a family business founded by his father Mario López Estrada in 1967. The business group has a diversified portfolio of direct investments in renewable energy generation, distribution of consumer products, digital services, and commercial and industrial real estate development in Guatemala and Paraguay. Mr. López Pérez is also part of the investment committee of the family’s liquid portfolio.

Mr. López Pérez is committed to the social development of Guatemala and is a founding partner of the Mario López Estrada Foundation, which seeks to improve the quality of life for Guatemalans, create development opportunities for communities in the rural areas of the country, and stem flows of illegal migration. Grupo Onyx and its affiliated Foundations have invested more than $50 million to date, including in health, education, transparency, and women’s empowerment programs. Working in close collaboration with U.S. and global government agencies and with non-profit organizations, the affiliated Foundations have implemented a number of projects to provide internet access and computer equipment, expand education and training opportunities, improve health and nutrition, and promote small business development.
Mr. López Pérez has a degree in Civil Engineering from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala.

Founders Members

Mr.López initiated his business activities with the construction company Constructora Mayain 1972, which specialized in real estate, land development, office buildings, road contracting and business malls.

Mario Lopez Pérez is a fifty-two-year-old, Guatemalan entrepreneur and philanthropist who completed his degree in Civil Engineering at Universidad del Valle in Guatemala.

Mariana López de Lara graduated Magna Cum Laude from Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala, where she earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in Economics and the other in Business Administration.

Gabriela López is a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Onyx, a consortium of Guatemalan companies which has its origins in 1967, when her father, Mario López Estrada, started the group’s operations by building popular housing and roads.

Ana María Pérez Bosch de López is a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Onyx, a consortium of companies involved in renewable energy generation, consumer products distribution, digital services, and commercial and industrial real estate development in Guatemala and Paraguay.
